Murder Mystery Author Bobbye Terry Tells Us About Her Newest Book "Buried in Briny Bay"

Scribal Love Welcomes Bobbye Terry!

Bobbye Terry is an author of mystery/suspense with a liberal dose of humor.  Her newest work Buried in Briny Bay is available from Turquoise Morning Press.

What is the name of your latest book?  And how did you come up with the title?

Buried on Briny Bay, first book in a four-book novella series (though it could be longer--we'll see how readers like it). The two sisters first popped up in my Maxwell Magic paranormal romance series, and they were so mouthy and engaging that I had to give them their own books. As for the name of the town, I made it up. In my mind, the town is just off the Pamlico Sound south of Ocracoke in North Carolina.

What is this book about?  And what genre is this book in?

This is a murder mystery. Roxie Turner discovers Georgia Collins, her twenty-plus year nemesis and the one Roxie has said she'd kill in a variety of ways, ways she shared with most of the member of the town, is discovered dead in the town's landfill. Then, more people end up dead and all of them are killed by methods from Roxie's list. The sisters set out to clear Roxie's name before she ends up dead or in prison for life.

How long have you been writing in this genre?

I've written short stories in the mystery genre, but this is the first book published. Besides the novella series, I have another work, a series of consecutive chronologically linked short stories, Slam Sisters of Serendipity releasing from Eternal Press in June, another novel-length suspense series, the Climax mysteries, beginning with Coming to Climax in September and Last Wishes, the first book in a series co-written with Alyssa Lyons(that will continue with Alyssa Lyons solo) which is also available in March.

Who is/are the main characters?  And why did you choose them?

As I mentioned earlier, the main characters are Roxie Turner, the owner of the local bridal boutique and her sister Trixie Frye. Greg Norris, a local PI, also has a major role. Why choose them, they're sassy, all Southern and funny as hell.

In your opinion, what makes a good story?

One that is entertaining and keeps the readers interest to the last page. It must be well-written and have lively dialogue and good pacing.

Can you give us a quick taste of what's inside?

Trixie groaned as she flopped on her living room sofa. “I'd never have guessed our town's detectives could be so downright unpleasant.”

“Make that shitty.” Roxie sat in a side chair and crossed her arms. “I can't believe our own brother took us in. And you were just about as bad. Thanks for getting us emprisoned there for two hours.”

“Look.” Trixie waved her finger in the air. “I was emprisoned with you. It's no fun being related to a cold-blooded killer.”

“I am not a killer.” Roxie voice quivered on the last word.

Is this book a part of a series?  And if so what can we look for in the future?

This is the first book in the series. The next one is The Marriage Murders: members of a marriage party start dying, beginning with the groom.

Do you have anything specific you would like to say to your readers?

Just that I think I am as strong, maybe even stronger, in this genre than in fantasy under my name Daryn Cross. I hope some fantasy lovers will cross over and try these. If you are a fantasy purist, I released a book with my co-writer, Craigs' Legacy, a time travel that debuted at Black Opal Books on February 11th.
