Her Dom’s Secret Past by Suzy Shearer-Their Passion And His Dominance Is Powerful But His Secret May End Their Love Before It Has A Chance To Really Begin #BDSM #MF #EroticRomance

Blurb

When Anabelle Rowley, fifty-five, takes a two-week break at an exclusive beach-front villa, she meets a man—but not just any man. Instead, this one ticks every box on her imaginary boyfriend list.

For fifty-two-year-old John Ethan, going on a short vacation to recover from injury and moving to Australia comes rather fast. Imagine his surprise when he meets a woman who arouses his every desire.

Their holiday romance ignites fires in them both and this is something real, something long-lasting. But when Anabelle has to leave suddenly, neither has a way of finding the other again.

Will they ever be able to locate each other? And if they do, then John must reveal a secret, a secret that he fears Anabelle will never understand.

NOTE: This is told in 1st person POV from both the Hero and Heroine.

This is an erotic romance. There are explicit sexual descriptions and explicit language used throughout. It may offend some readers.

STORY EXCERPT:

Somehow, I’d managed to keep on my feet when the big wave crashed over Anabelle and me. She surfaced, spluttering, and I held out a hand. She let me help her up and I held her hand a little longer than necessary.

“Thank you, John.”

“You’re welcome. That was one big wave.”

“Sure was, but it’s fun.”

She was still grinning and I couldn’t help myself. I leaned toward her and our lips touched. It was all I’d dreamed of and more. It was electrifying. Our kiss was soft, tender, and a little unsure until I felt her press toward me. I put a hand behind her head and deepened the kiss. Oh yeah, I could get used to this. We finally separated and gazed at each other. Her eyes had dilated slightly and her lips parted as she stared into my eyes.

“I couldn’t resist.”

“I … neither could I, John.”

“I’d certainly like to do it again.”

“Then maybe you should.”

We stood there, the waves crashing around us, as I kissed her again. This time I took my time reveling in the taste of her, mixed with the salty water. Her hands pressed against my chest.

When we stopped, I whispered, “I’ve wanted to kiss you since I first saw you reading.”

“You have?”

I nodded and traced her lips. Her eyes seemed to shut of their own accord as my fingers explored her gorgeous, full mouth. When she opened her eyes, I decided I should kiss her again.  It was wild. The surf pounding against us, the sound of the ocean, and Anabelle in my arms. Another big wave hit us and sent us both under. I grabbed her hand as we fought our way back up to the surface.

“Sadly I have to accept that kissing and big waves don’t mix very well.”

She gave another of her lovely carefree laughs.

“I think you’re right. Come on up to my place and I’ll make you a coffee or tea.”

We waded back to shore. Anabelle picked up her towel and I realized mine was further down the beach.

“I’ll just get my towel and then join you.”

She nodded and continued walking back to her villa while I limped down to where I’d tossed my towel, picked it up, and then followed her into her villa. She’d thrown her towel on one of the outdoor chairs and was in the kitchen. I dropped my towel to join hers after drying off and walked to where she was. She turned to face me at my approach and it was all I could do not to grab her and kiss her again. Her face showed a little nervousness and I smiled.

“Coffee or tea?”

“Still an Englishman, it’s tea for me.”

“Do you want to try the Chinese White?”

“I’m sorry, I only drink black tea.”

She gave a giggle. “So do I. Chinese White is black tea, if that makes sense. It’s only the tiny top buds of the bush. Then after they’re picked they are left to dry naturally without any further processing. It’s a very delicate, smooth, and sweet-tasting tea, I love it.”

“In that case, I’d better try it.”

She nodded and set to making two mugs of tea. I sat down on one of the stools at the bench and studied her. I decided then and there that I’d never tire of watching her. She was so gorgeous. Those luscious curves of hers beckoned me non-stop and I thought I’d been semi-erect since I first saw her. She finished and put a mug in front of me, then another alongside it and came to sit on the stool next to me.

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.”

I took a sip of the tea and let it roll around my tongue. The taste surprised me, very light but fruity. Anabelle was right. It was very smooth with no bitter aftertaste that I sometimes got with black tea. She grinned at me and raised her eyebrows.

“It’s lovely. I think I may have to convert.”

“It’s delicious, isn’t it?”

We savored our tea in silence, except for the roar of the waves and the sound of the wind that was getting stronger as it blew through the trees. I wanted to learn all about this lovely woman, but what I actually wanted to do was kiss her again. I noticed her give a shiver.

“Cold?”

“A little.”

I stood and moved behind her, rubbing my hands up and down her arms.

“Maybe you should change into something warmer than this damp suit.”

Shadows Of Our Past by Tanya J. Russell- Face To Face With The Man She Fell In Love With Years Ago It May Tear Their Lives Apart #MF #RomanticSuspense

Blurb

Jackson Halland has spent ten years running from a mistake that cost him everything, including Amory Parker, the woman he loved. With his gut wrenching response to her reappearance, he realises that if she will forgive him, then maybe, just maybe, he can forgive himself.

After ten years of working undercover Amory agrees to one final mission. Vowing to get justice for the woman she promised, and failed, to protect, nothing will stand in her way, not the prolific criminal she’s determined to bring down and certainly not coming face to face with the man she fell in love with on her very first undercover assignment, even if he has no idea who she really is, or the part she played in his past.

Excerpt

Amory was so engrossed in her thoughts she didn’t hear the approaching sound of bare feet, padding on the smooth wooden floor, until a deep groan broke through them and she looked up to see Jackson. His mussed, dark blond hair was shot through with strands of gold in the overhead lighting.

The man was incredibly made. His arms stretching up and behind his head caused the bottom of his t-shirt to lift a few teasing inches, revealing a tantalizing glimpse of a tanned, rock-hard stomach. They weren’t the sculpted lines that came from the gym, but powerful, solid muscles. A fine trail of hair led the way to the top of his loose navy shorts. As he reached the bottom of the stairs, her gaze was transfixed.

His legs were long and thick, every muscle rippling as he moved down the stairs into the hallway. A rush of heat shot through her body, setting every nerve alight. Her stomach rolled as she absorbed the sight while a little lower everything tightened and tingled. She’d hoped that her memory had been flawed, tinted by the rose-colored lenses of what she had long since accepted was her first love. That clearly wasn’t the case. Rather than letting himself go he had become more impressive. The slenderness of youth had filled out, living up to the promise of overwhelming masculinity.

His lean muscles had broadened, and whilst the softness of youth had faded from his features, it had left a strong profile in its wake. Jackson had grown up all man. She gulped, heat flooding her.

The good feeling from her run was replaced by a more base desire to touch every inch of his perfect body. To pull it hard against her own and feel those muscular planes mold against her. She unconsciously licked her lips as she watched him.

As she met his eyes, the feeling of heat evaporated, replaced by a harsh chill of dread that sank through to her toes. His emotions were playing across his face and it was clear that, despite her DCI’s reassurances, Jackson had joined the dots and figured out who she was. The recognition clearly shocked him as his whole body jolted abruptly to a stop.

Unable to move, she stared helplessly as he began to walk toward her, his face a mix of unreadable emotions. As he reached out, her body began to respond to the heat that rolled off of him. The scent of his skin washed over her, but she moved back defensively. It was a tactical mistake, giving away that she knew who he was, that she had known all along.

“Amory?” he whispered, hope shining oddly through that one word.

Almost imperceptibly shaking her head, all her professionalism flew out the window, and with her heart sinking she managed a stuttered whisper, “N-n-no… No, you’re wrong. I’m Olivia.”

No amount of training was going to get her through this. Despite her only half-admitted hope that he’d see who she really was, Amory knew too much was at stake for this to happen, but it had. Now she had to endure the awful consequences of him recognizing her, the hatred that would follow this moment.

[ Blurb ]

Jade never wanted a mate.  She loved being an assassin and she had a family in her fellow assassins, their mates, and little Silas.  She truly had everything she needed.  But when Ghost assigned her to track the same immortals who tried to kill Xander’s family, she couldn’t refuse.

But the complication arises when Ghost requests she partner with Noah, a human and ex-special forces soldier.  Jade has never worked with a human before, much less one that hated her from the moment he laid eyes on her.  But she was a professional and if she could play a part in destroying the immortals who threatened her family, she could accept the human.  If only she knew how to fight her attraction to him.

All Noah Hale wanted was to kill the immortals who lured his best friend and fellow ex-Navy SEAL to his death.  He had no desire to be teamed with a beautiful tracker who mesmerized him the moment she turned her emerald eyes his way.  But in order to stop other soldiers from pursuing the same fate, he needed to swallow his pride and work with a group of immortals he didn’t trust.

[ Excerpt ]

Jade caught a scent of a human as she entered the fourteen-story building in downtown Snowfall.  It wasn’t just any human scent, but something that made all of her instincts flare.  She knew that she’d never caught this particular scent before, but something told her that this human might be important to her.  She tried to brush it off as quickly as the thought came, but she couldn’t find it coincidental she smelled it in the same steel building owned by Ghost and housed the headquarters of Dark Company.

As she dismissed the fleeting thought of searching for the scent, her heart thumped once, hard, in her chest at the thought of not finding its owner.  She forced herself to walk toward the elevator bank, ignoring the unwanted perusals she received from the men in the lobby.  Even in an unassuming hoodie and black yoga pants, she drew unwanted attention.  A side effect of being an immortal.
The elevator opened as soon as she pressed the up-button and she kept her gaze down as she walked into the elevator.  She entered the code to get to Ghost’s private floor, her movements too quick to be caught by the human eye, before she squeezed into the corner.  Jade used her other senses as three men in suits and two women entered the enclosed space with her.  There was no need to glance at the glass interior that covered the back wall to see what she looked like.

She sensed eyes on her.  Instead of searching out the gaze, she whipped her long, straight dyed black hair into a bun on the back of her head with quick movements before sneaking her hands into the front pockets of her hoodie.

Jade waited patiently as the car traveled toward the penthouse, her ultimate destination, but she couldn’t help but try to find the intriguing scent from earlier.

After my meeting.

All she knew was he hadn’t used the particular elevator she was in and the higher the lift took her in the building, the more his scent dissipated.

In her entire existence, or what she remembered of it, she’d never been attracted to…anyone.  She’d never felt the pull to find someone either.  But lately, she’d felt increasingly restless whenever she had any downtime and her skin tingled in a way that had nothing to do with signaling immediate danger.  It was as though her body tried to convey something she didn’t understand.

Her thoughts were interrupted when a man who had gotten into the elevator with her on the first floor stepped into her personal space.

“Hey, beautiful?”

Jade rolled her eyes and raised her head to glare at the man.  Of course, he wouldn’t take the hint that she wanted to be left alone.  To emphasize the point, she crossed her arms and leaned against the wall, moving away from his intrusion.

The man decided to take this as an invitation and moved to wrap his arm around her waist.  The move gave her a clear shot to his ribs and she took it, gently moving her elbow back and making contact.  She flinched when she heard a distinctive crack, realizing she hadn’t been careful enough.  Before she could apologize, the elevator door opened and he ran off without looking back, holding onto his side.
She sighed.

Frozen- The Martini Lounge

Lani

Ever have that one perfect moment in time, when you know exactly what you’re supposed to do, who you’re supposed to be in life? Well, that had been me, and it certainly had lasted for more than a moment. I’d decided to pledge myself to God and help others in his name. Selfless, that was me
and I was weeks away from taking my final vows. Then something happened, I met someone and suddenly I questioned everything.

Rom

I’ve always lived my life on my terms. Granted, I never thought I’d grow up to be a male stripper. But what the hell, I made good money and now, I had a shot at something more. And the women. Yeah, I loved women but they came and went. I preferred it that way. Didn’t matter which of us left first, as long as one of us did. I didn’t do attachments. Then something happened. I’m no saint, but I saved someone and wanted an attachment.
Only to find out I could never have her.

~*~*~*~*~*~
Excerpt:

I’d always been the dutiful child. I was a good student, did as I was told. Never broke the rules. My twin broke them enough for the both of us. I merely tried to protect her. But my decision to become a nun wasn’t made lightly. I’ve always had this need to give to others. I felt an innate emptiness, a sense there was something out there that needed my help—the church.

I nursed my single glass of wine, but as the night wore on, my temples pounded against the noise in the room. I sometimes suffered from migraines and this kind of atmosphere provided fodder to bring one on. Lots of people around, the voices and the thumping music. Thankfully, the women were ready to leave the lounge after a few drinks. Dancing didn’t really seem to be done much in here, more a place to drink and socialize. Although, I could spot the strippers in the room by their distinctive lack of clothing and whatever they rubbed over their bodies to make them glisten. I made it a point not to stare too much at anyone. The reason we’d come to the club had all the women standing up and heading over into one of the other rooms, where the show they’d come to see would take place. That was my cue.

“I’m calling it a night, sis,” I announced as I stood too, rubbing my head.

Lara wrapped her arm around my shoulder. “Are you sure? You okay?”

“I’m tired. It’s been a long day and I have a pounding headache. It’s best I leave now.” I squinted, feeling a little lightheaded.

“Oh damn, I’m sorry. I should have thought of that.”

“I’ll be fine. Besides, I enjoyed being here with you tonight and celebrating at least a little bit with you and Corrine.”

“Thank you again for coming, Lani,” Corrine said, giving me a quick hug.

“Yes,” Lara added, kissing my cheek. “Thank you. Love you. Feel better.”

She squeezed my arm.

“I will. Love you too.”

“Want me to help you get a cab?” Lara asked

“No, I’ll just call one.”

“Okay. Text me once you get home,” Lara said.

I rolled my eyes. “Sure, sure.” It’s not like I lived alone. I hadn’t moved out of our parent’s house yet. I wouldn’t until I took my novitiate vows in a month, but I worked every day and went to church every other day. Only returned to our parent’s house in time for dinner and to sleep.

I made my way to the elevator while my sister and her companions went in the other direction to one of the rooms for the strip show. Part of me was a little curious and wanted to see one, but the other more practical part of me knew I shouldn’t. Having a drink in a bar was one thing, watching
the strip show, well something else entirely. Besides, the world seemed a little tilted. I stepped onto the elevator and leaned against the side to right myself. I’d just pressed the button for the first floor when someone stepped on. My head ached so much I couldn’t even glance up to see who I shared the ride with. I stared at the floor and could see the dark shoes and pant legs, the size hinted at a man.

The door closed, the elevator dropped and my body swayed but I didn’t fall.

The man who now stood behind me said, “Whoa!” He held onto my waist as though to steady me.

“Tha—thank—y…” Something was wrong with my voice. My words didn’t come out right. How much did I have to drink? The elevator door opened and I took a step forward to get out when the entire floor spun up to meet my face, but strong hands held onto me.

“I got ya.”

“Everything okay?”

A male’s voice asked, one I didn’t recognize.

“Yeah, she’s fine. Just a little too much to drink.”

I didn’t recognize the one who answered either. “Na…” I wanted to protest, but the arms holding me up were the only reason I could walk forward. I leaned against his strength, depending on it.

I felt myself being placed in the back of a car. The scent of smoke and stale air made me want to puke. “Cab,” I muttered.

“Yeah, cab.”

Hands reached across my lap to snap my seatbelt, pausing to stroke my breasts. Wrong, this was all Wrong.

“Nooooooo!” I cried out.

#MidWeekTease-Do I Have To Be Into BDSM To Join? #WIP #HolidayRomance #BestFriends #DatingAdvice

Hi Teasers! It's Clare and I'm back!  Yay!  Been working and you know how it is when "Real Life" gets in the way. But I have been writing. You know I couldn't stop doing that.  I finished the third book in the Love Play Matchmaking Service series.  It's in the second/third draft version and in need of proofing. But it's all there!  Whew!  I hope to have it submitted by mid-November, early December by the latest. See the hot guy below? He is the inspiration for the Hero/hottie for this book!

My inspiration for Brion, the MC of book 3
 in
The Love Play Matchmaking Service series

Brion has been called into the office at work by his best friend and boss Nate Poole.  Nate is concerned about Brion and is encouraging him to go on a date by using Love Play.

Excerpt

“Hey I met my husband and wife through them,” Nate said.

“No offense but what am I supposed to think when you say Love Play?”

“You're supposed to consider the reputable source for this information.  Me. Your best friend. Remember?  The one who asked you to be at my wedding.  The one where you said barely spoke a word to anyone including me.”

“I didn't want to steal your thunder,” Brion said. He shrugged his shoulders.  Nate knew he wasn't much of a socializer.  And he also knew he was godawful at small talk.

“Sucking all of the fun out of the room are the words you should have said,” Nate said.

“You wound up getting married again anyway,” Brion said.“You got to relive the moment probably with chattier friends."

“The second one was a collaring ceremony, I didn't invite you because I knew you would not have wanted to be there,” Nate said.

“You're right,” Brion said.

There were somethings a guy didn't want to see his best friend do, like walking around in a thong while wearing a spiked leather collar or whatever the three of them did during their BDSM thing.

“Getting back to the point, Love Play specializes in people who can't seem to find the right person.  I never told you about it before because they've recently turned into a referral only service.  And as a lifetime member, we are asked to honor our agreement of discretion with them.  But since you are in desperate need of their services, I can tell you everything you want to know about them.”

“Why are they called Love Play?” Brion asked.

“Their mum thought it would like nice on the stationary. How the hell would I know? What kind of dumb arse question is that?  Try again,” Nate said.

“Do I have to be into BDSM in order to join? And if not, are they going to make sign up for some whips and chains course when I do?” Brion asked.

“Since I know you, I won't reach over and slap you for that,” Nate said. “And I'll try not to be hurt at that delicate slight for my proclivities toward feather boas and anal plugs.”

“God no!”

Nate snorted then laughed.

“Seriously.  It's the first thing you talk about during orientation.  It's pretty painless, The Punisher comes in and asks you to pick a safe word then you bend over,” Nate said. “Just close your eyes and grit your teeth. Next question.”

“I'm going to be sick,” Brion said.

“Sit down. I'm only messing with you. No you don't have to do anything you don't want. And for your information, we did not request BDSM when we joined.”

“It was a perk then?” Brion asked.

“A very pleasurable one,” Nate said, smiled and waggled his eyebrows.

“You're still messing with me aren't you?”

“Yes.  God when did you get to be so serious? You really need to get laid.  And quickly. Fortunately, they work fast,” Nate said. “And they're really good.”

“What did they do that was so special?” Brion asked.

“They set me up with my soul mates.”

---

Okay that's all I have for you today.  Thanks for stopping by.  I'm also halfway through the writing process for book 4 in the Love Play Matchmaking Service series and that one is a MM! I can't tell you a lot-- don't want to lose the element of surprise but I can tell you this storyline offers a little of a BDSM twist!

Perhaps I'll post a snippet from that one next week!

In the meantime, check out the list below to find more sexy Midweek Teases!

Clare

Happy Reading!

Resurrection by Ashe Barker-He Has One More Chance At Love And He Will Not Lose Her Again #Vampires #RomanceNovel #Historical #TimeTravel

Blurb

Right from the start she knew it wasn't about love.

As the youngest daughter of a wealthy family in medieval England, Lady Jane of Acton has been betrothed to Gerard Twyfford, the son of the Earl of Roseworth, since she was a baby. A dynastic marriage such as theirs is about power and property, not love but even so Jane desperately yearns for her husband's approval. But Gerard’s rare visits to her bed are for the sole purpose of producing an heir, and she’s even failed at that. How can Jane win Gerard over when she cannot even be the wife he needs her to be?

Would one last chance be enough? Could he make things right, even now?

Ged Twyfford doesn't know what he's missing in life. A powerful vampire, he’s lived for close to six hundred years and seen a lot during his time but his past still haunts him. On a whim, he purchases Roseworth castle, the keep he used to rule as lord. A Bear's Baby by Vanessa Devereaux-She Betrayed His Trust But Will He Finally See That She's His True Mate? #RomanceNovel #Shifters

Blurb

Jenna Paxton lives by her late father's standards of what an attorney should and shouldn't do. She's also a woman with a ticking biological clock. She’s thinking of turning to IVF, but hangs onto the hope that any second Mr. Right will stroll through her door.

Brady Walsh is super rich, independent, and isn't ready to settle down. When he does choose a mate, she'll be a fellow bear shifter, not a human.

Brady is Jenna’s new client, and she knows he’s not the marrying kind. When they begin a sex only relationship, she knows she’s found the ideal baby daddy.

There’s something about Jenna that makes Brady forget all about not getting involved with a human, well that is until he finds out said human used him for stud purposes, and decides he never wants to see her again.

Can fate, or in Brady's case, his fellow shifters, make him see reason and accept that Jenna is his true mate?

Excerpt:

She’d never done this with a client before. Never been so brazen with a man before. She wasn’t the sort of woman who had sex on the first date. Not even the second or third one. However, there was something about Brady Walsh that made all her past barriers and sensibilities go out the window. He was handsome, rich, exciting, self-assured and, yes, there was something about him that made her want to do a wild thing.

Practical Jenna would have calmed the impulse and waited until she got to know him better, much better, but this other Jenna didn’t want to play by her usual rules. This time she was listening to her body and not her mind.  Her pussy need to be satisfied, period.

Jenna was all fingers and thumbs when it came time to opening the office door. She knew what was going to happen once they crossed its threshold. There’d be no going back. The keys slipped through her hands and fell to the floor.

“Here let me,” said Brady.

The keys looked so miniscule in his hands as he scooped them up and placed the key with the red top, back into the lock.

Click.

Brady pushed the door open. “After you.”

Her legs shook. Apprehension and self-doubt took over. She hadn’t been with a lot of men. She guessed Brady had been with lots of women. What if she didn’t excite him?

“Let’s go through to my office,” she said, trying her best to push thoughts of why this wasn’t a good idea out of her brain.

Her office. The corner office. The one that was overly hot and got the afternoon sun. The one that had been her father’s office. The one that would have been David’s had he survived the attack all in one piece. She opted not to put the overhead lights on, but walked to her desk. Yes, she knew the exact path and how many steps she needed to take to make it to the desk without bumping into anything. She snapped on the green banker light, and turned around. Brady had already taken off his coat.

Jenna took off hers and laid it on her chair. They looked at one another and then he took two large strides over to her. He pulled her into his body. His erection stabbed at her belly as his lips found hers. She’d already guessed he’d be a great kisser, and she hadn’t been wrong. His mouth, just like him, had a demanding way about it. Something about how his lips meeting with hers and insisting, no demanding, that she open her mouth for him. His tongue slipped over her lips, making itself at home like an invading warrior who wanted to divide and conquer.

He ran his hands up her back and then down on her butt, grinding himself into her some more, and make her panties wet to the point of being uncomfortable. She hoped he’d get her out of them very soon. Brady pulled his mouth away from her. He looked her in the eye and wiped away a stray piece of hair that was stuck to her cheek.

“You’re so beautiful and sexy,” he whispered. Even his low voice was deep and had a certain demanding nature about it.

--

Cold Warriors (Book 1)

Left in cryogenic stasis for nearly a century, Caitlin Driskoll is awakened and drafted into a war she knows nothing about. Expected to defend a world where her kind is despised and expendable, she discovers love and respect from the one man who can’t be associated with her.

Lieutenant Colonel Medoro Keegan has spent a lifetime in the Marines. With no family to speak of, the Corps and his ship, the USS Blanchard, are all the loved ones he needs…until Caitlin sparks a fire within, that threatens to consume him if he doesn’t walk away.

Will he choose a life of certainty in the only world he knows or give it all to Caitlin and run the risk of losing someone, yet again?

Excerpt

He didn’t know what to say. His first clash with her had distracted him to the point of madness. It had been some time since he’d had such a powerful encounter with a woman. The last one to push his buttons that hard, he wound up marrying.

Caitlin was stubborn, mouthy, somewhat insubordinate, and filled with an innate force he had not seen in sometime. She had no problem in standing up for who or what she believed in. He didn’t like the feelings she stirred in him. He dare not consider them. Especially with her. She was a subordinate and a cryo. It was against regulations for him to even think of starting anything with her.

He shifted his stance. His heart pounded in his ears and breaths quickened. “Ms. Driskoll. I don’t know what you expect from me.”

“Nothing more than I expect from myself.”

Before he knew it, he crossed the distance between them and swept her into a searing kiss. He caressed her body, touching every curve. Arousal sped through his body like lightening. He dug his fingers in her hair and hungrily dominated her mouth, his tongue delving in, playing with hers. Gripping her waist, he lifted her up and placed on her the table. She arched her neck exposing her creamy skin. He nipped and bit at it enjoying its smoothness. He reached up and caressed her breasts, a need filling him to see them, taste them.

He was ready to slip off into oblivion when he remembered himself. It was the middle of the day; they were in a briefing room and would be caught. Breaking off the kiss, he raised his hands in surrender.

“Jesus,” he said in between breaths.

“What?” she panted, as she straightened her uniform.

“Please leave. Just go.” He closed his eyes, wrestling his feelings into submission. Holding them down, he shuddered. Dear God, help me. He needed her so badly. His breathing slowed to a normal rate. When he opened his eyes, she was gone.

“Sir, you’re needed on the bridge,” the voice on the com said.

“Be right there,” he replied, grateful for the distraction.

Redemption. Having left under a cloud of disgrace, retired Marine Colonel Medoro Keegan is called back to duty.

Bound. His wife Caitlin, the only surviving member of her team, chooses to embrace life, albeit grudgingly, as a cryo soldier. Seen as sub-human, she is forced to serve a planet that denies her rights as a person.

Driven. Guided by their sense of duty and belief that some things are bigger than them, they are determined to risk it all.

Hope. The cost of war is high. Can their love and marriage survive? Or will it be killed off by the very same mission that brought them together?

Excerpt

Caitlin was a sight for sore eyes. She was beautiful. Her petite frame was perfectly accented by the curves of her figure. And her brown eyes and coffee-brown skin was smooth, creamy.

Standing at attention, she did not meet his gaze. Though it was customary not to do as a sign of military courtesy, he could tell she was not doing it for that reason. Her gaze was different. Circling her, he tried to see if he could catch her watching him out of the corner of her eye. In fact, she appeared to be staring blankly ahead.

Peering directly at her, he spoke in a soft tone. “At ease.”

She relaxed.

“Cate. Can you hear me?”

“Yes, sir,” she responded mechanically.

Pain pierced his insides. She was definitely not there. Keegan placed his hands on his hips and hung his head in defeat. The one thing that was supposed to go right did not. For whatever reason, they had placed her in a deeper state of mental control than she’d ever been in. He controlled the hostile emotions brewing with him. Touching her face gently, he felt her icy skin.

This is unacceptable! Not here. I will not let this happen here. Not under my command.

“Chief, listen up,” he said in an authoritative tone. He knew in this state, it was the only way he could speak to her and still have her respond.

“Yes, sir.” Her gaze became even more distant.

Her response fueled his anger. “You are going to hightail it down to the doc and receive a full examination. Tell him it is based on my orders. He will know what to do. Is that clear?”

“Yes, sir.”

Knowing that she was under the influence of cryo neurotransmitters, Keegan figured the only way to combat it was to get someone to reverse it. They usually wore off once she was away from the stimulus triggers for a long period of time. But considering her stimulus triggers were high-ranking officers in uniform and combat situations, being around here meant she was going to be in a drone zone for a very long time. The last thing he needed was a zombie on board, especially one in charge of the lives others.

Only the jerks in psyche warfare thought doing this to someone would be a good idea. As long as he was running the ship, none of that would be allowed. There weren’t going to be any super zombies soldiers on board his ship. And he’d rollover in his grave before he let them do it to his wife.

“After you come back from the doc, you will report to me, understood?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Are there any questions?”

“No, sir.”

“Dismissed.”

She did an about face before leaving the room. Keegan clasped his hands behind his back. In the blink of an eye, his joy had turned to sorrow. Now faced with the responsibility of looking after his wife, he wondered how could he handle the burden of command and still protect the woman he loved.

A Siren Erotic Romance

--

STORY EXCERPT

Jake felt a soothing touch on his face. He struggled to make sense of it. No one ever touched him in that way.

He could smell her. She had a scent that was clean and soothing. It reminded him of the field of wildflowers where he wanted to build his future home. He had always wanted a home to share with his destined mate and had thought it was something he would have in his future, but he knew better now.

“Jake,” a soft voice called to him. “Can you hear me? Do you want to open your eyes and look at me?”

Jake struggled against the pull to become aware. Everything hurt too much. He didn’t want to open his eyes. He didn’t want to feel the aching throb in his left leg. He hated the way his head felt like it was filled with cotton that had been soaked in hard liquor. It was worse than a hangover. It was torture.

“You don’t have to open your eyes, Jake,” the feminine voice told him gently. “Just listen to me and try to relax. You’ve been in an accident, but you’re doing well. You’ve been unconscious for a while, but I’ve been here with you the whole time.”

“Who?” Jake managed to croak out. “So dry.”

He found a straw at his lips within a heartbeat. He drew on it slowly, thankful for the cool water. Too soon the straw was pulled away. He was helpless to move and draw it back toward his mouth.

“More,” he demanded.

The soft laughter that met his words made him angry. Did this woman not know that he demanded respect? Did she not know that she must listen to whatever he said and do whatever he told her to do?

Before he could voice his demands, he felt the soothing touch of her hand along the side of his face. When he felt the wet tip of her finger trace ice chips across his dry lips, he opened his mouth and sucked the chips and her fingers into his mouth. When she tried to move them away, he bit down lightly and captured her so she couldn’t get away. He growled softly as he exerted his dominance.

The soft gasp and then the sweet laughter that he heard confused him. Opening his eyes slowly, he saw the most incredibly beautiful woman he had ever seen in his life looking down at him. There was a soft glow of white surrounding her, making her appear ethereal. Her brown eyes sparkled with joy, and her sweet face made him think of gentleness and love. Her hair was almost a midnight black, it was so dark. It was pulled back from her face in a high ponytail but he could see the curls of its thickness. He wanted to grab on to that ponytail and hold her in place. The intensity of that thought surprised him. He had never had such an immediate gut reaction to any woman before.

“You’re fresh,” she whispered, tugging at her fingers and smiling widely when he refused to release her. “Jake McKade, you need to let go of my fingers.”

He shook his head slowly, surprised when he saw the way her expression softened as she listened to his refusal. When she reached up and threaded the fingers of her free hand through his hair and tightened her hold, he couldn’t help the way his body tightened with need.

Opening his mouth, he expected her to snatch her hand away but she surprised him. She gathered another ice chip, wet her fingers again, and drew them back to his lips to trace them once again. He licked at her fingers and smiled when she took a shaky breath.

“You know, you’re entirely too cute for your own good,” she told him, dragging her fingers across his cheek and rubbing his temple with the pad of her thumb. “How’re you feeling? Do you have a headache?”

“I’m fine,” he insisted, the barrier to his heart slamming closed once again.

“Liar,” she said softly.

Straightening, Claire pressed the call button that was wrapped around the side bar of the bed. The deluge of emotions and pain from the people within the hospital hit her the moment she wasn’t touching Jake. She couldn’t help but moan softly as she raised her hands and touched her temples. She had forgotten to put up her mental shields. She had become so comfortable not needing them whenever she was with Jake. She had become lax in her vigilance.

Jake saw her pain and reached out for her immediately, grunting when his sudden movement caused pain to shoot up his left leg and into his hip, radiating up into his stomach and groin. He clenched his teeth against the pain, but he never let go of her arm.

Claire sagged against him, her body draping across his chest as the relief from pain was immediate. She rested her face within the crook of his neck and breathed in the masculine scent of him.

“I’m sorry, Jake,” she whispered, doing her best to push herself off of his chest so she wouldn’t cause him any further pain.

“Don’t move,” he told her firmly, glad when she immediately stilled.

“I don’t want to put pressure on your ribs,” she explained softly, reaching up to run her fingers through his hair and massage his scalp lightly.

He sighed at the gentleness of her fingers on his head. He eased his hold on her but never let go of her forearm. “I think you need to be right where you are,” he whispered, fighting to control his pain.

“You think so, huh?” she asked, soft laughter escaping her.

“Yes.”
--

ADULT EXCERPT

Jake set her down gently beside the bed, gathering her in his arms and smiling down at her. The blue of his eyes twinkled with happiness and love. When he framed her face with his hands, she sighed into his touch as he gave her such peace and calm. He also filled her with happiness and love. She could feel his emotions. This man was truly a treasure.

“I’ll go out and get the picnic basket,” he whispered against her lips before he kissed her tenderly. “I’ll be right back.”

“Are we eating in our bedroom?”

Jake slowly smiled and raised one eyebrow as his mind went immediately to that place that was filled with desire. “Yes, angel,” he said finally. “We’re going to eat our picnic dinner, and then I’m going to eat you.”

Claire smiled even as she blushed. “Jake,” she whispered, pushing at his chest lightly. She couldn’t even look at him, knowing her face had to be red with embarrassment.

“What’s the matter, angel? Did I embarrass you?”

Claire laughed softly as she snuggled into the firm muscles of his chest. “You know you did,” she whispered.

Jake laughed softly against the top of Claire’s head. “Yeah, I know I did,” he admitted. “That’s what makes it fun.”

Claire eased back and looked up at the decidedly smug expression on Jake’s face. He had every reason to be smug. He was a kind and giving lover who drove her crazy with desire every time he touched her. She had never known making love with a man would be so incredible or so explosive. He always made sure to make her come more than once before finding his own release.

“I’m going to tie you to our headboard and have my way with you tonight, Jake McKade,” she told him, taking great satisfaction from the surprised expression displayed on his face at her words.

“Are you?”

“I’m going to use the silk scarves to tie you,” Claire continued, nodding and kissing the column of his throat until she reached his ear. “I’m going to suck your balls into my mouth and tease you until your cock is dripping. Then I’m going to swallow your cock and bring you almost to the edge.”

“Then what?” Jake was barely able to ask.

“Then I’m going to sit on you and take your cock deep inside of me. I’m going to ride you until you come and fill me up with your seed.”

“Hell,” Jake whispered.

His shaft was so hard within his jeans he was sure it was going to be permanently marked from the teeth of his zipper. He had never been restrained in his life, but he was looking forward to experiencing the erotic adventure that Claire had just described to him.

“Go and get the picnic basket, Mate,” she whispered into his ear. “I’ll be waiting for you.” She kissed his neck just below his earlobe, biting down on the tender skin lightly. “Do you think you’ll be able to control yourself if I’m naked when you come back?”

Jake growled as he gathered her tighter against his body and threw them both down onto the bed. He kissed her with such passion Claire wouldn’t be surprised if the bed combusted into flames. She wrapped her arms and legs around him, moaning as he rubbed his cock against her core.

She reached down between them, trying unsuccessfully to unbuckle his belt and open his jeans. She could feel the hardness of his shaft and felt a desperate need to have him inside of her.

Jake swore softly against her mouth, easing back and unbuckling his belt, unzipping his pants, and reaching into his boxer briefs to free his hard cock. He breathed a sigh of relief as the pressure was eased immediately and his cock bounced free to point directly at his mate’s body.

Claire reached for him and gripped his shaft firmly, pulling on it and eliciting a groan of desire from him. Jake allowed her touch for only a second before he pulled her hand away and reached for the snap and zipper of her jeans. In just a matter of seconds, he tugged them from her body, ripping her underwear in the process. She didn’t care. She needed him. She didn’t care if he destroyed every piece of clothing that she wore.

She laughed as her jeans got hooked on her sneakers, causing Jake to release another series of swears in frustration. When he was finally able to pull off her sneakers and tug her jeans from her body, they were propelled across the room as he threw the offending deterrent to his need to love his woman. Claire’s laughter stopped quickly and was replaced by a long moan as Jake slid inside of her.

She locked her legs around his thighs and pulled him closer. He filled her so perfectly. She loved the hardness, the thickness, and the depth of him. Her body was made for his in every way.

“Jake,” she whispered against his neck.

“Am I hurting you, Claire?” he asked softly. He gritted his teeth and held his body still. Every bit of his control was focused on not hurting his woman.

“Not at all,” she said, laughing softly. “But if you don’t start moving soon, I’m going to bite you.” She opened her mouth and lightly bit down on the side of his neck for emphasis.

Jake’s entire body tensed with anticipation. Claire pulled such need from him, it was almost frightening. Moving his hips just slightly, he pulled from her warm channel very slowly, loving the whimpers that left his woman as he did so. Pressing back inside of her, he held his groin tightly against hers as his balls rested against her body and his shaft was buried as deep as he could go inside of her.
