Artistic Endeavor by Whitley Gray; Campus Cravings Higher Learnings

Blurb

When friends ask one-night stand connoisseur Michael Esteban to introduce college professor and virgin Cobey Miller to the joys of sex, Michael balks. Lust is his thing, not leading a twenty-five year old novice. But shy Cobey has problems meeting men, and their introduction fuels Michael’s decision to help Cobey become a gay-sex-loving guy. It’ll all be fun and games—unless someone falls in love.

Excerpt

In the dimly lit bar, Michael drummed his fingers on the table. “Maybe you should have let me meet him somewhere without you two along as chaperones.”

Eli chuckled. “It took me a week to convince him to meet you. He’d never go for the blind date thing.”

“Well, he’s late. Sure he’ll show?”

“Relax.” Burke massaged Eli’s neck. “He’ll be here.”

Ordinarily Michael looked forward to sizing up a new man. In fact, he’d already taken stock of every guy in the room. If Cobey didn’t show, the bartender looked like a good prospect. Prolonged eye contact, a big grin, and a wink when serving Michael’s beer. Yep, good prospect. Someone new.

Of course, Cobey would be new. Too new. Michael sighed. How was he supposed to introduce himself? Hello. I’m the guy our mutual friends have asked to be your sex instructor. How’s it hangin’?  Yippee.

“There.” Eli nodded at the entrance. “Just coming in.”

For a moment it was too crowded to see much, but the herd of patrons parted. Michael licked his lips. Well, well, well. The picture hadn’t done Cobey justice. Nicely wide shoulders, narrow hips, hair a man could get a grip on. Dark eyes. A perfect mouth—full but not too full. How was it possible this gorgeous male specimen had never been intimate with another guy? And Michael had the opportunity to be the first one.

I can certainly sacrifice myself for the greater good by teaching him.

Please Welcome S.L. Danielson as She Discusses Her Newest Male/Male Romantic Work "Life After Math"

Scribal Love Welcomes S.L. Danielson
S. L. Danielson is an author of male/male romantic/erotic fiction.  Her newest work Life After Math is available from Silver Publishing.

What is the name of your latest book?
Life After Math
And how did you come up with the title?
The 1st book was named Love by the Numbers, and since it’s about a math tutor; it fit the couple and the theme.

What is this book about?

This book is a sequel and follows two college students named Scott and Jared. They are a newly-committed couple who are facing the new challenges that school will bring, such as wanna-be boyfriends, and lost time together.

And what genre is this book in?

It could be considered YA (Young adult) since they are 18 at the outset, but they finish at age 22; so it is two adults; which makes it applicable to the erotica division.

Who is/are the main characters? The two main characters are Scott Williams and Jared Adamson.
And why did you choose them? I chose them because they were the main characters from the first book.

What is the coolest or best part about your book?  (Any Favorite scenes, the world-building etc…)

Hmmm…that’s a toughie! Overall, I love the drama, so I love it whenever there’s a twist or turn and a huge fight or a big makeup scene….this book has all of those!

Do you have a favorite character in the book?  If so, why?

Scott is definitely my favorite. He’s the outcast as he was in the first book, but has fit in a bit more since he began dating Jared. He’s the underdog; and I consider myself to be like he was; shy, unassuming, but dying on the inside for attention.

Is this book part of a series?

Yes, the 2nd.

If so? What can we expect in future books?

I have toyed with the thought of doing a third book to cover this duo to the very end. (hint, there might be wedding bells)…or will there?

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

I’d say no; I took my time with it and had it go through betas and got lots of feedback. I’m happy with the finished product.

Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

I learned it was easy to write these two; they are instilled so well in my mind.

Do you have a publisher?

Yes, Silver.

And if so, why did you choose them?
They took me on as one of their first indie self-pubbed authors and listed my books. Now, since they are full-service, I submitted it to them first. I was so thrilled the day they accepted!

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Hmmm…I don’t have a lot of mentors (except for school). I’d say my inspirations come from my good friend Julie, and from my beta readers Yolanda and Linda. They help me pick the story apart and see it from a reader’s perspective. That’s invaluable!

What books are you reading now?

In the next few days I’ll be starting books submitted for judging in a contest! I’m super excited about being able to be a voice in that process.

What are the current writing projects that you are working on?

Currently, I have One in beta stage, another under consideration, and three more on the fire. I always have something cooking.

Do you write full time?

No, but I wish I could.
If not, do you hope to do so one day?

Definitely! Dream come true!
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

From the time I was a very young girl; I did all kinds of things, but writing is the only thing that ever ‘stuck’. Even my family knew it from the outset. My brother predicted I’d be an author years ago.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Finding the time to do it and the proper inspiration. Right now I live in less than ideal surroundings; and hope to one day have a private, silent office where I can think and create on a whim.

Do you have any advice for other writers seeking to get published for the first time?

Yes…first and foremost, find a good beta reader! This could be a friend, a mentor, someone whom can look at your tale and go through it for inconsistencies, ask questions, point out errors, etc. Not an editor; but better.

Also, be patient!!! I’ve had to learn this the hard way. Waiting for an answer is killer to me; I’ve had to make myself work on or think of other things while waiting.

Also, that publisher you submit to…check them out first! Get recommendations from fellow authors or Preditors and Editors’s site. I got bitten on this one; again, lesson learned. I was lucky to have found and friended Silver’s CEO and with my other publisher was a recommendation from a friend. I’ve had great experiences with both…so it pays to do your research!

Erotic Romance Author Berengaria Brown Discusses Her Book "Dinner Delights"

Scribal Love Welcomes Berengaria Brown

Berengaria Brown is an author of erotic romance, mainly ménage, male/male and lesbian. Her only one man/one woman book is available from Breathless Press.

What is the name of this book?  And how did you come up with the title?

“Dinner Delights” is a short story that begins at a formal, boring work dinner, then moves to Krystal’s apartment afterward, so the name seemed to encapsulate the story.

What is this book about?  And what genre is this book in?

This is a contemporary short story.

Two workmates. A boring dinner function. An explosion of lust. Will it lead to love?
Krystal is thrilled when Troy asks her to be his seatmate at a boring work dinner. He is a totally yummy hunk, whom she has loved forever.

When they dance, their passions combust and they rush back to her apartment to take their relationship to the next level: from friends to lovers.

Their night together is better than anything Krystal had ever imagined. But can it last? What will happen tomorrow?

Who is/are the main characters?  And why did you choose them?

Krystal and Troy. My characters always choose themselves, they just turn up in my head, demanding their story be told.

What is the coolest or best part about your book?  (Any Favorite scenes, the world-building etc.

Troy is a yummy hunk. Everyone would like a date with him. Krystal is an ordinary woman, a little overweight, a little socially inept. But she adores Troy who is her very best friend at the office. The fact that Troy chooses her as his partner for the dinner encourages every ordinary woman to believe that there will be a romance for her.

Do you have a favorite character in the book?  If so, why?

Because it is such a short story, really only the hero and heroine are fully developed characters. And I wouldn’t dare choose between them.

Is this book part of a series?  If so? What can we expect in future books?

“Dinner Delights” is the first of my three books at Breathless Press. Each book explores a different genre. “Loving Lydia” is an erotic lesbian short story, designed for people who have never read that genre before. “Carnal Connections” is a ménage with three men, again, a short story aimed at people interested in exploring different genres.

If not?  Are you considering expanding it?

Because “Dinner Delights” is so short there are no secondary characters crying out for their own book.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

These short stories are purposely designed to give readers a taste of a genre. They are not meant as full-length books with a lot of plot and world building. They are brief tastes to see if the reader would like to try a full-length book. If you do decide to embrace erotic romance I have longer books at other publishers.

Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

It is very hard to write a short book. Every word has to add to the story. With longer books the author has more space to play around with ideas.

Do you have a publisher?  And if so, why did you choose them?

I write for several different publishers, with each genre at a publisher that specializes in that genre.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Jaid Black introduced me to erotic romance, Georgette Heyer to historicals.

What books are you reading now?

Tracy Cooper Posey, “Blue Knight”; Anny Cook, “Blue Paradise; Penn Halligan, “Who Dares Sins”; and a holiday anthology, “Twas a Dark and Delicious Christmas”.

What are the current writing projects that you are working on?

I have just contracted a series with Amarinda Jones called “Sex Odyssey” about people on vacation who meet at a fictitious town. Amarinda wrote three of the books in the series and I wrote the other three.

Do you write full time?  If not, do you hope to do so one day?

I think every author dreams of being on the New York Times best seller list and writing all day. Unfortunately, like most authors, the day job is a reality for me.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

I read a lot of books all the time. At one stage there were no new books that interested me and I was tired of re-reading my favorites, so I sat down and decided to write a book. I took writing seriously, treated it as a job, and researched publishers carefully. I tried very hard to submit my book as they had asked and to follow their guidelines. Apparently it worked, because my books were accepted and by the end of 2010 I will have 20 published books.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Always for me the plot is the most difficult part. It is clear in my head, but harder to ensure there are no inconsistencies or plot holes on paper.

Do you have any advice for other writers seeking to get published for the first time?

Keep reading. Keep writing. Keep submitting. But also research the publishers and submit your book to houses that publish books similar to yours. Follow the submission guidelines as best you can. And good luck.
