A Grim Reaper And An Angel. Two Brothers With Very Different Missions And One Woman's Soul Who Brings Them Together. Reaper's Redemption; An Erotic, Contemporary, Menage a Trois (MFM) by Scarlet Day

Blurb:

Atticus is a fallen angel with many names, but the Grim Reaper is the one most feared. After failing his last mission, he’ll get as close to his new target as he must to ensure success. An unfallen angel and Atticus’s brother, Azrael longs to turn Atticus from darkness. His own mission comes first, though, and if he succeeds he’ll lose Atticus forever.

Danni Morgan had her life ahead of her until a devastating diagnosis changed everything. She’s determined to conquer her fear of death, but she has no idea her soul is being stalked.

As he interferes with Atticus’s mission, Azrael realizes their target may be the only one who can save his brother. But Azrael may have to sacrifice himself as the price for his brother’s salvation. Danni’s time grows short, sacred vows are broken, and angelic forces are unleashed. In the end, even the walls of Hell are no match for the power of love and redemption.

A Siren Erotic Romance

Excerpt:

“You need to eat.” Atticus placed a plate of sliced honeydew melon, pineapple, and mango on the small table next to Danni’s lounge chair.

Danni sighed and looked up at him, lifting her hand over her eyes to shield them from the bright sunlight. “I know. I just haven’t been able to get much down.”

Atticus sat down on the chaise next to her and glanced across at Azrael, who occupied the chair of the other side of Danni. He wore a speculative expression as he studied her. Atticus could almost see the thoughts running through his brother’s mind. Was Danni’s illness progressing faster than they had detected?

She had spent the last couple of days barely able to do more than sit around the pool, occasionally taking a quick dip in the water to cool herself off. She napped often and ate little. Atticus had seen disease take its toll on countless humans. Her body’s responses were normal, under the circumstances. And if her illness was progressing faster than he’d anticipated, then his mission would be over all the more quickly. He narrowed his eyes and studied Danni, wondering why that thought bothered him so much?

Maybe he just dreaded the possibility of returning to Hell without her soul, should Azrael best him in their opposing missions. Or maybe, in spite of his insistence otherwise, he wasn’t really all that irritated by his brother’s presence. Truth be told, Atticus was enjoying his brother’s company, though he would never admit that to anyone, least of all Azrael.

Azrael had even relented and called Atticus by his preferred name in front of Danni, though he still called him by his given name when they were alone. It was a small concession, but one Atticus appreciated, all the same. His given name reminded him too much of times long past, when his purpose had been different.

Danni shifted in her chair, dragging Atticus’s thoughts back to her. He picked up the fork he’d brought and speared a piece of honeydew. “Just a bite, Danni. Please.”

Danni sighed heavily, but then she pushed herself higher up into the chair. “Okay, but only because you’re being so good to me.”

The words froze Atticus for a moment, before he extended his arm and placed the melon in her mouth. She tugged it off the fork and then licked her lips, catching the juice before it ran down her chin. Atticus’s field of vision seemed to shrink down so that the small, pink tip of her tongue was the only thing he could see. His chest seemed to constrict, as though a tight band encircled him and squeezed. She thought he was being good to her? His sole mission was to snatch her soul and ferry it to Hell, but she thought he was being good to her?

Danni leaned back against the lounge chair again and closed her eyes while she chewed the fruit. “Mmmm, this does taste good. If I promise to eat the rest, will you stop worrying so much?”

Abaddon set the fork down on the plate. His hand shook and he stared at it, appalled. What the hell was wrong with him? He was the Grim Reaper, for fuck’s sake. He should be encouraging his victim to starve and speed up the dying process. But here he was, hand-feeding her and encouraging her to eat.

He shot a glance at his brother, who stared back at him with narrowed eyes and a furrowed brow. Panic bolted through Atticus. Did his brother suspect Atticus was losing his touch? Did he think Atticus was going soft? And would Azrael use that to his advantage?

He had to pull himself together. Atticus stood up and walked to the edge of the pool. Without looking back at Danni and Azrael, he dove into the deep end of the swimming pool. The cool water enveloped him. He swam close to the bottom, not emerging until he reached the far side of the pool. As his head popped up above the surface, he wiped the water from his eyes and glanced back to Danni and Azrael. Even from a distance, he could feel Azrael’s calculating stare.

Atticus pulled himself out of the pool and turned toward the beach. Maybe a long walk would help him clear his head. He’d never spent this much time in such close proximity to one of his targets. Not since…

The realization struck him as hard as a lightning bolt. There was only one other target he had gotten close to in all of his existence. And that hadn’t turned out well at all, for either of them. The memories flooded back into his mind. He broke into a run, churning up the sand under his feet as he ran. Faster and faster he sprinted down the beach, the memories and shadows chasing him with every step.

He kept running. With rage and remorse he yelled at the heavens. He would not—could not—repeat his past mistakes. There would be Hell to pay if he did.

ADULT EXCERPT

Abaddon squeezed his eyes shut. As he knelt there, the hard tile under his knees and the cool water flowing over his shoulders and down his back, he felt tears spill down his face. He knew he didn’t deserve to be loved so much. He had never done anything to earn his brother’s compassion and he could never do enough to earn Danni’s heart. Yet they gave him both.

The scent of strawberries filled the air again and he opened his eyes. Danni smiled and wove her fingers into his hair. He stared into her eyes as she performed the same cleansing ritual for him that he had done for her. As her hands moved with such gentleness across his body, it felt as though more than just the outward evidence of his time in Hell was being washed away. He felt clean, all the way through. When the water cascaded over his body, he knew it washed away more than just dirt and suds. It also washed away all of the pain, bitterness, and rebellion he had held in his heart for so long.

When Danni finished with him, she turned to Azrael and reached her hand out to him. Abaddon stood and moved to the side, while Azrael stripped out of his soot-stained jeans and then stepped into the shower. Danni repeated the cleansing process for Azrael, taking care to wash away all of the filth and black soot that clung to him.

Abaddon watched Danni’s face as she cleansed his brother. Her gaze roamed over Azrael, her pupils dilating and her nostrils flaring at times. His brother had been right. Danni could not resist Azrael’s body. But as he watched her face, Abaddon suspected there was more to it than that, even if she hadn’t realized it yet. He looked at his brother and studied his face. Azrael’s gaze was focused on Danni. Abaddon grinned. He recognized the expression in his brother’s eyes. It was the same look he knew he wore every time he looked at Danni. He wondered when Azrael and Danni would admit their feelings for each other.

As he watched her wash his brother and saw desire light up her eyes, Abaddon felt his own desire burn through him. His cock swelled and stood erect. He reached for it and stroked his hand down the hard shaft. The movement caught Danni’s attention and her gaze followed his hand. A smirk turned up her lips and she slid the tip of her tongue over her bottom lip. The small action sent a shudder through Abaddon and her smile broadened. He narrowed his eyes at her. The little devil knew exactly what she was doing to him and she was enjoying it.

She finished washing Azrael and then stood up on her tiptoes and placed a quick kiss on his lips. “I’ll finish with you in a few minutes.”

She turned to Abaddon. He felt as though his skin was going to burst into flames as her gaze wandered down his body and then settled on his throbbing cock. His hand was not enough to satisfy him. There was only one thing that could give him what he needed. And only one person who could give it to him. As though she could read his mind, she dropped to her knees on the floor of the shower.

She took his thick cock in her hand and ran her fingers over the tight skin. She rubbed the swollen head with her thumb, spreading the drop of pre-cum that had emerged. Her fingers teased his aching shaft. Abaddon groaned and leaned back against the cool tile wall. Her hand felt incredible as she rubbed and stroked him. He didn’t know how anything could feel better. But when she ran her tongue along the underside of his cock and then sucked the head into her mouth, he thought his world was going to come undone.

She sucked and licked, pulling moan after moan out of him. Her mouth and tongue drove him to near madness as the pressure inside him built and grew more intense. He didn’t want it to end. He wanted to feel her lips around him forever.

He wove his fingers into her hair and thrust into her mouth, his hips coming away from the hard tile behind him. Her teeth skimmed his shaft and drove him to near madness. She took every inch of him and he felt his head hit the back of her throat with each thrust. Still she sucked and teased, giving him no mercy.

He hurled toward the brink, his cock straining into her mouth. As the pressure built to an almost unbearable level, he felt slim fingers wrap around his tight balls and then squeeze. The pressure broke. His cum shot from him into Danni’s mouth and he yelled his release. She kept sucking, pulling everything he had to give from him. His fingers tightened in her hair and his cock twitched in her mouth as she drained him.

He fell back against the wall and stared down at her. She slid his cock out of her mouth and then looked up at him and licked her lips. The sight was enough to make his cock swell again.

She grinned up at him. “Greedy much? You’ll have to wait your next turn.”

She spun on her knees and grinned up at Azrael, who was staring down at her with the look of an angel who would give his wings to feel her lips on his cock. Just as she reached for him, a silver glow formed around the three of them and lit up the bathroom.

“Fuck.” He exchanged a look of dread with his brother.

Danni jumped to her feet, her eyes wide and alarm flashing across her face. “What? Not Hell again?”

The glow around them intensified to a blinding white as Abaddon and Azrael answered in unison. “Worse.”

Heavenly Desire by J.L. Sheppard; A Paranormal Romance; Coming Soon to The Wild Rose Press

Will he sacrifice his wings for a woman he loves but can never keep?

Coming September 10, 2014
to Wild Rose Press

Blurb:

Clyde, an angel, battles the one thing he believes will lead to his fall from heaven—his new found emotions, forbidden among his kind. Nonetheless, the Angel Lords promise to promote him to warrior when he completes his last assignment—to find Jade. When he does, emotions he never knew possible arise. For the first time in two thousand years, he cursed his existence. Knowing she can never be his, will he sacrifice his wings for a woman he loves but can't keep?

Excerpt:

He bent toward her, wrapped one arm around her waist, the other around her back, then buried his face in the crook of her neck and inhaled.

Relishing the feel of her body melded against his, he forgot the worries consuming him. She soothed his ache with a mere touch, with a mere embrace.

Exactly what he’d wanted, exactly what he needed.

She then pressed her full lips against his cheek, kissing him lightly.

An innocent kiss. There was no passion behind it, but an unconscious consuming need, one he’d never felt, swelled inside him—desire. It was exciting, overwhelming and terrifying, blocking logic and reason.

All he wanted now was a single kiss. All he could think about was how her soft lips would feel pressed against his.

Marvelous, he concluded.

It was absurd to want what he did and feel what he felt, for he was an angel. Carnal desires even as insignificant as kisses were for others, for all others except his breed, and yet he felt it so deeply it seared him.

The desire that gripped him didn’t release him even after she unhooked her arms from around his neck, and the warmth of her body melted away.

There he stood, immobile, battling the desire she’d sparked. He didn’t want to leave yet knew he had to before he’d acted out his longing.

He willed his body to move. Finally, he placed one foot behind the other, stepped back and strode away praying the yearning he had no right to feel for a woman who would never be his would soon subside.

Join Us As Deena Remiel Talks about her New Paranormal Romance Book "Trinity"

Scribal Love Welcomes Deena Remiel!

What is the name of your latest book?

TRINITY

And how did you come up with the title?

Well, the story revolves around three individuals, a young divorced mother, her daughter, and an angel.

What is this book about?

Here’s a blurb that explains it all:

Emma Livingston, a single mom, has been through hell—and back, so she thinks. While dealing with her five year old daughter’s night terrors, she attempts to live a normal life. That is, until the being from those very nightmares comes to visit her. Has her child been dealing with a real demon while she thought he was only a figment of an active imagination?
Michael D’Angelo is known to everyone in Prophet’s Point, Arizona, as their loving elementary school principal. But to The Brethren, he is known as the most powerful Protector. Immortal and angelic does not mean he’s without doubts or fears. While trying to protect Emma and Hannah, his tortured past comes back to haunt him. Can he overcome it? Or is he doomed to repeat a failure he has lived with for what seems like an eternity?

As Emma and Michael come together to protect Hannah, ancient secrets are revealed and faith is tested. When a prophecy is exposed, questions must be answered… Can Emma learn to trust enough to love again? Can Michael believe in himself enough to show Emma how? And will they be able to protect an innocent child, not to mention save the world as they know it, from total annihilation?

And what genre is this book in?

Paranormal romance

Who is/are the main characters?

Michael, a Brethren Protector, is a prinicipal of an elementary school by day and an angelic protector of the good by night.

And why did you choose them?

Each is battling inner demons, as well as real ones, and is stronger than they ever realized.

What is the coolest or best part about your book? (Any Favorite scenes, the world-building etc..)

Well, readers, I’m sure will determine which are the best parts for them, but as for me, the coolest part about my book is that in my world, angels really do exist on earth, and they are fierce and scrumptious all at the same time! :)

Do you have a favorite character in the book? If so, why?

My favorite character is Emma. She’s a mother who is intensely dedicated to her daughter and not afraid to show it or act on it.

Is this book part of a series? If so? What can we expect in future books?

Yes, it is. It is the first book in The Brethren Novel Series. Well, my second book, Relic, picks up where Trinity leaves off, and focuses on Raphael, a Brethren Savior. He’s got a past that comes back to haunt him; a past he’s known nothing about until one fateful day. The third book, Elixir, introduces Nathanael, a Brethren Warrior, a most complicated angel, who blurs the line between Good and Evil. Expect to see at least three more books beyond these mentioned here.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Absolutely not! I LOVE my stories and characters.

Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

I learned that although writing a book starts out as a very isolated experience, it takes a village to raise a great novel. I happen to have a wonderful village around me.

Do you have a publisher?

Yes, Decadent Publishing is my publisher of choice.

And if so, why did you choose them?

Heather and Lisa have cultivated a family environment for their authors, and I really like that. They both know their business very well, and have created a strong publishing house. I also love the fact that they are such proponents of the American Cancer Society. Every month, a new book is offered as a Read for the Cure book. That means all proceeds from the sale of the book go to the ACS. Isn’t that awesome?

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Sherrilyn Kenyon, most definitely! The way she creates her worlds so thoroughly and expansively, the depth of emotion and back story she provides each character, well, this is craft at its greatest.

What books are you reading now?

I’m reading A Matter of Principle, by Kris Tualla, and as soon as my order comes in, I’ll be reading Anne Bishop’s The Black Jewels Trilogy.

What are the current writing projects that you are working on?

Relic is on que for editing, and Elixir is beckoning me to pay it some real close attention. I do, however, on my website, write an online serial called Brethren Beginnings~ Rise of the Brethren. A new installment releases every three weeks. The latest one just posted on December 13. The serial chronicles the Brethren’s origins and compelling stories BEFORE the apocalyptic events of Trinity.

Do you write full time?

Unfortunately, no.

If not, do you hope to do so one day?

My goal is to do this full-time, but right now I teach language arts in a middle school. So actually, during the summer months and breaks, I write full-time.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

I’ve always loved reading and that translated directly to writing. I also play piano, and when I was younger, wrote songs. That turned into poetry writing for a long while. Then, I moved out to Arizona a few years ago, looked at the mountains around me, and a story percolated in my head that would not go away, Trinity.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I have read so many books by amazing authors and some are masters at shifting POV from one character to another within a scene. So what did I do as I started out? You guessed it! I head-hopped like nobody’s business! So now, I’ve tamed that beast.

Do you have any advice for other writers seeking to get published for the first time?

1. Believe in the value of your story. 2. You need a village. That village is your critique group. Don’t have one? Get one. It’s that important. 3. Do your homework by finding publishers that suit your genre, writing amazing query letters and synopses, and keeping an organized list of your submissions, rejections, and requests. 4. Get your domain name as soon as possible and get visible on all types of social media. 5. Keep smiling through it all. If it isn’t fun and rewarding, even with all the business angles and such, then rethink your purpose. 6. Stay true to yourself and your goals. Don’t let the nay-sayers put doubt in your heart.

Taylor Kincaid, Author of the Paranormal Inspirational Novel, 'Why Angels Dance, Book One of Ashley's Waltz'

Scribal Love Welcomes Taylor Kincaid!

Taylor Kincaid is an author of fantasy, paranormal, historical, suspense, inspirational genre.  Her newest work, Why Angels Dance, Book One Ashley’s Waltz, is available from Red Rose Publishing.

What inspired you to write this book?

This series is somewhat a fairy tale about guardian angels and the mortals in their charge.  But I use the term fairy tale loosely, as the mortals are faced with extremely difficult and sometimes seemingly insurmountable problems in their earthly lives.

I have always loved the thought that we all have a guardian angel who watches over us day and night.  I also think angels are beautiful and magnificent beings, and have always been fascinated by them.  I decided I wanted to write a fantasy series about these guardians and their mortals, imagining to the best of my ability what their jobs might entail, what a day in their lives might be like.  And I began to write the first story in this series, Ashley’s Waltz.

Do you have a specific writing style?

I don’t know if I have a certain style or not.  I love to write and enjoy creating characters, bringing them to life, characters who only live in my imagination until I start putting them on paper.  I also enjoy writing dialogue, and pay attention to detail.  I gravitate to stories of the paranormal and fantasy genre.  I enjoy writing romance, but also enjoy genres outside of romance, which is the case with my Angels series.  Although some of the characters may experience romance, this is not a romance series, but more of a drama series.

What is the name of your latest book?  And how did you come up with the title?

Why Angels Dance, Ashley’s Waltz, is the first book to be published in the series.  The mortals in these stories are dealing with serious situations in their lives, and so are the angels who are assigned to their cases.  My angels needed an outlet where they could unwind from the intense drama of their time on earth with their mortals.  So each of the angels spend their free time posing as ballroom instructors in Heaven.  They all love to dance and are good at it. And when they have successfully completed their cases on earth, they have every reason for celebrating.  Hence, why angels dance…

What is Ashley’s Waltz about?

Ashley is a lovely four year old, who must repeatedly suffer physical abuse at the hand of her mother’s boyfriend.  The mother does nothing to intercede for or protect her daughter, and allows the abuse to continue.  Her guardian, Mary Lou, must attempt to find someone on earth who might care enough to get involved and try to help the poor child.

What books have influenced your life most?

As a child, I was so interested in fairy tales, the ones where the prince carries the princess off into the sunset, and they live happily ever after.  I’m older and wiser now, and I know that fairy tales are just that. But there is a tiny part of me that would still like to believe in them.  I suppose there is still a little girl inside who never wants to grow up.

The Bible has been a great influence throughout my life, as I have always been a Christian. My faith has become such an important part of my life in recent years.  It was by the grace of God that I survived, with my sanity intact, the three-year period when my husband, Dave, and I battled his colon and brain cancer together.  It was an incredibly difficult time, which ended in December of 2008 with Dave’s death.  I know God was with me helping me every step of the way.  And I have tried to be careful in writing this series, as I want to represent the Father in a respectful way.  Even though this is a fictional fantasy series, I want my representation of heaven to be as true to form as possible, considering my limited knowledge of a place I have never seen but only hope for.  I hope I succeed in portraying correctly God’s true loving nature.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

That one’s easy. Nicholas Sparks. His stories tug at the heart and always make you cry.  It’s best to have a box of Kleenex handy.  But that’s the kind of writer I want to be.  My goal is to touch the reader’s heart with my stories in such a way that she can’t help but cry when she reads them.

What books are you reading now?

I’m actually not reading any right now.  I’m focusing my time and effort on writing more books in this series.

What are your current projects?

I’m constantly writing poetry.  But the story I’m currently working on would be the fourth book in the series.  Book Three features Anastasia, a lovely young woman who has spent her life in a wheelchair, and in and out of hospitals.  She is my favorite character in the series so far. Book Four will be her sequel, and will continue to tell her story.

Do you see writing as a career?

I would love to think I could make enough money doing what I love to make a living at it.  But I don’t know how likely that is. So for now, I just consider it more of a hobby, and also a stress reliever.  It’s hard to think about the stress in my own life, when I’m so involved in my character’s lives.  After all, their lives are literally in my hands.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

At this point, no, not anything I can think of.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

I have always loved the English language and words.  I started writing fictional short stories in high school.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Oh, there are always challenges in writing.  They can range from the simple, things like spelling and punctuation, proper grammar…to more intense challenges.  Am I being true to my character’s personality?

And writing in a realistic manner is important to me.  I know… being concerned about realism when you’re writing fantasy or paranormal?  But my paranormal and fantasy characters are constantly inter-acting with real humans, and the humans need to be realistic and believable.

Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

Yes…that we are always in need of angels watching over us. We humans can quickly make a mess of things, of our own lives and of others.  That’s why we need to be guided by a Higher Power, like our Heavenly Father, and His angels who are among us.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

If you love to write, then do it.  Don’t do it to please others.  Do it for yourself.  It’s truly a great way to relieve stress.  Write your stories, proofread them and perfect them.  And then submit them to a publisher.  Be prepared for rejection.  It goes with the territory.  But shrug it off and keep going.  There is always another publisher on your list.

Thank you for dropping by Taylor!

You are welcome.
